Robert Griggs owes child support for his oldest son. He currently owes me almost $12,000 and I am mother to just one of his children. He is the oldest of Roberts three children. He also refuses to pay for the other two as well.
In the divorce he was ordered to provide a measley $25.00 each week. Do the math! How many weeks, months, years does that add up to? Our son is no longer a minor and because he got married when he was 17 years old his father even got to quit paying earlier than if he had remained at home and had gone to college.
Our son was raised by my husband (his step father) and myself. Even though his father failed to comply with the court I NEVER refused him or his family when ever they wanted to see him. I felt that he should know his father. I also used care not to bad mouth him to our son. I wanted my son to form his own opinions about his character. I know that if I had said how I felt about his unwillingness to step up to his responsibilty and to be a real man could have caused my son to have hard feelings toward me.
Most visits his father was so preoccupied with his own life that he would send his parents or another family member to pick him up on his weekends. My son said many times that he only got a glimpse of his dad as he was coming in from his all night party just before he passed out.
Roberts parents were very good about helping out with his school clothes and I could always count on his grandfather to spend time with him hunting or fishing. Even though I was grateful for those things and always will love his grandfather, I have no use for his grandmother who made it a point to protect him when child support enforcement took my case to get what he refused to pay. If the sheriff attempted to serve a search warrant on him she would allow him to hide and told them she had not seen him for months. When in fact the majority of the time he was actually living either in her home or in a home on her property.
He told my son that he could not work and it was my fault because they could track him down to his work using his SS # so when he did work he only worked for people who would pay him under the table so he couldn't be found.
So how does our son feel about him now? He told me that as far as he was concerned my husband was the only dad he had and his biological dad was just a sperm donation. When our son got married he arrived and saw another ex-wife in attendence and without leaving his vehicle he gave her the finger and left. I cannot understand why he could not put his on hatred to the side long enough to attend his sons wedding. The other ex-wife mothered our son when they were married so I felt she had every right to be involved in the wedding. She very generously gave of herself to help me with last minute details the day of the wedding.
After my son became a father himself things continued to get worse between his father and him. His grandmother for some reason helped to have him arrested so that she could gain custody of my only grandson. The facts surrounding that incident is another story so I will not go into it today. The sad part is that my grandson barely knows who I am because she managed to gain custody and took him away. If any thing I would like her to remember that I NEVER told her she couldn't see our son and even went out of my way too many times to accomodate her so she could spend time with him. Though she never has denied to let me see him she told me that he was constantly doing something else and his plans could not be changed. When he does visit, I can see her influence on him. He gets extremely obnoxious if he doesn't get his way.
The only other thing I would like to say is that if anyone who knows Robert Griggs should read this report, please do me a favor. Tell him he is 41 and he should get a life and stop living with his Mama and face his responsibility. I will never go away until he takes care of what he owes us. You may ask why I even bother since my son is now grown? Now its purely the principle!!!
