I was searching the internet on my laptop, the phone rang, when I answered it there was a guy with an east indian accent talking, he told me that my computer must be running slow. I replied ' it does not seem to be"" any way he went on and said that he worked for microsoft and that he could help me with any issues that could possibilty damage my computer. I was very skeptical about his conversation, but he kept talking and said that if I didn't allow him the access to my computer it would be very likely that my computer would crash, and with me not being very computer knowlegable I was feeling very vulnerable and paranoid about the situation. Finally after all the talking, I was so confused, I did allow him to have access to my computer. He talked me through all the steps and asked me if I could see any issues on any certain catagories on the monitor. To my suprise the issues in red were unbelievable. I was very worried at this point. He told me that he could fix everything and my computer would NEVER crash. I agreed to allow him to fix it, Well then he told me that there would be a charge, at no surprise to me I knew that there would be a price, he mentioned different fees for different plans that were available, for example there was a one yr., a two yr., a 4 yr or an unlimited lifetime plan, well I was so paronoid about my 2yr. Old $1400.00 computer crashing, he made a sale. He told me that the best plan to buy was the unlimited lifetime plan and the price was $419.00 American, which would not cover one computer, but three., so I bought it. He asked me how many computers we had. I said 'three', he told me that since the one computer was infected the other two computers we had online would also be infected so he would fix those as well. He called me back around 6:30 and told me to have my spouses' computer on and to type in an email address. I tried calling him, I used the number he gave me, which was 138-6170 but could not get through. I thought that they must be closed, so the next morning at about 11am I tried to get in touch with him. The phone rang, a recording of a womans' voice came on after a couple of rings and said ' all of our technicians are busy, I waited a while and they hung up on me. I tried again, and again, and again for over an hour, but I could never get to a live person. At times it would say that there was an issue with the phones, or some other reason, but I just could not get through. At this point I'm starting to get worried, and am wondering if it was all a scam. I went back onto my laptop to see if there was any other way to contact them. While I was reading, I noticed that there was something on the page saying that EProtectionz.com was a scam. There were actually quite a lot of negative reviews about them. Well immediatley I called my bank and cancelled my credit card and other banking info. Then I notified the police about the whole issue. I then posted an email demanding a full refund, they sent me back a message stating that Ihad to have a good reason for the refund. I told them straight up that I thought they were a scam, that I had called the police and that I cancelled all my cards, and that there was going to be an investigation regarding them. Later that day I received an email from EProtectionz.com stating that they are going to give me a full refund within 7 days, well that's meant to be seen.
