While I was looking for a particular laptop computer, I was directed to a website that turned out to operate from China. After exchanging e-mails for more information and against my better judgment, I ordered the product and transferred the $265 cost thru Western Union on Feb. 25. I received e-mail confirmation and EMS shipment tracking number. The number turned out to be for a shipment made to Canada last November. I received an apology for the mistake and a new number. The new number led to the same shipment from Shnghai to Canada. When I tried it again it was not recognized. When I contacted the sellers again the explanation this time was that the shipment was held by Chinese custom pending a payment of $106 in custom duty. I refused to pay this and informed them that this should be their responsibly since I was never informed of it before I placed the order. They would not assume responsibility and after a couple of more e-mails, communication stopped.
