I am unfortunately bound to a contract with Direct TV. I am the only name mentioned on the account. It seems last year a former boyfriend ordered the ESPN Game Plan package and paid for it with his own personal credit card. The special package was not paid for on my bill with Direct TV. This year, it automatically was renewed and charged to my account. When I called up to have the charges reversed and cancelled I was told I was unalble to do so. These special sport packages are set up on an automatic renewal and can not be canceled. I am being charged $115.96 for something I did not order nor authorized be added to my account. Direct TV tells me that because my former boyfriend said he was my spouse, they HAD to add it to my account. Yet, when I asked them to bill him directly for it or charge his personal credit card again they told me they could not do so. No where on my bill does it say that I can not cancel this package. They will not refund me the 2 payments made of $28.99 each and tell me I am responsible for 2 additional payments of $28.99 each. FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT ORDER OR AUTHORIZE TO BE CHARGED TO MY ACCOUNT!!! When I asked if there was any other responsible party (to pay bills) listed on my account, they said no... However, anyone can add a service to you account with Direct TV as long as you know their home phone number and address and say you are the persons spouse??? Amazing! I believe this is Fraud.
