I was led to believe that I could get very inexpensive phone service through the internet but it turns out that one must keep the computer on all the time for this Magic Jack to work! So the money saved goes up in smoke with the increased cost of the power. I get noise and fading on most calls which depend on the speed of the internet connection. Cannot get money back. They keep adding software upgrades without my permission which takes over my computer.
I cannot shutdown the computer to the hibernate mode without unplugging the magic jack from the USB port. Technical support is
over the internet. The company has no other tech support. The "tech" I contacted from Magic Jack pretty much told me in as many words to take it or lump it. There was nothing he could do. He knew they had a problem but they are carefully scripted with a sheet in front of them to NOT ADMIT that their design is defective.
So in ending, the Magic Jack does not do what it supposed to do.in their dreams it does. They must be making a mint from just people who bought it for 39.95 as seen on TV. I think you can go after every company that advertises "as seen on tv". I think you should go after the TV network that carries an ad that does not work.
