DON'T buy a Dell.
It has been 3 years and I have yet to receive a computer that doesn't break within 6 months.
I bought a Studio 1537 for school. It died within 5 days. They sent me a free exchange which broke in a few months in the middle of exams. After days and hours of pointless discussion, I demanded my money back so I could buy myself a Mac. Only then did they tell me about their system exchange policy when after 3 failed technician visits, they will give you an exchange regardless of how long ago you bought your computer. So I got another. That one broke at 3am when I was saving edits on a final paper. A man from another country then led me in how to remove parts (one memory) of my computer so it would temporarily work. The computer has worked (freezing every 3 min) until 3 weeks ago. I have spent the last 3 weeks of my summer vacation on the phone with dell or in my house with technicians. When I required that they honor their system exchange policy, they offered me yet ANOTHER studio (this time a studio 1569) that is 100% refurbished from 2009.in other words, a busted computer they have had sitting on their shelf for 2 years. I am refusing to take a 4th studio, and am asking them for an XPS, and have been waiting 3 days to hear back from them. I have tried calling but nobody seems to be able to connect me to whoever is in charge of dispatch. Going on 3 years and have yet to receive a functioning computer.
Long story short - GET A MAC. Or if you HATE mac, make sure you get the highest level of insurance/warranty on your dell. I bought a $1,800 computer, and have undoubtedly cost the company $10,000 in repairs for the sloppy computers they ship out.
