In September Hughes Net Internet service could not supply service to us. We called in to Customer Service and did everything they asked us to do or try, 9-8-09. They billed our credit card for service 9-17-09, even though they could not supply service. Then billed it again 10-17-09 we were still doing all their speed checks and what ever else they suggested to get service. On November 3 I called and discontinued service or rather non service. I was told I had a 2 year contract and could not discontinue service without a $300.00 charge. I was given credit for 9-8-09 through 11-17-09 $78.38, from $300.00 leaaving us owing a balance of $221.63 Our monthly charge was $59.95. They have turned the owing balance over to collection because we disputed the charge to our credit card and won, the credit card would not pay the charge. If the FCC can't do anything about the business practices of hughes Net, please let me know who handles such complaints. After googleing Hughes net complaints I found they have treated thousands of people in this manner. The are still running ads of television for their internet service. Isn't this false advertisment?
