CVS Caremark shorted me on my prescription, knows it, and refuses to fix it

My doctor wrote a prescription for 3 packages of a drug that comes in two bottles per package.in the past, several pharmacies have filled this properly perhaps about 30 times. But CVS Caremark sent only 3 bottles.

When I called CVS Caremark, the pharmacist who joined the call to address the problem said that I was supposed to receive 3 packages with 2 bottles in each package, and, assuming that's what I received, asked what I was expecting. I told her that I had received only 3 bottles. At that point, she changed her story and blamed the doctor for not being even more clear.

I asked the pharmacist to correct the problem, and she refused. I pointed out that if they were unclear what the doctor intended, they could call the doctor's office for clarification. She refused to do that. So I asked for them to refund 1/2 of my copay for the prescription. Unbelievably, they even refused to do that! So on a multi-hundred-dollar prescription (probably about $600), they refused to refund $31 to me to correct their mistake.

They offered a $25 certificate to use on my next prescription. However, this is my first experience with them and I'm loathe to ever have another prescription filled.in fact, they even told me that if I ask them to refill this prescription, they will do exactly the same thing, dispensing only 1/2 of what's intended, not contacting the doctor's office ahead of time for clarification.

So here's the position I'm in. I'm out $31. I have a $25 certificate that I can't use. They've promised to screw up the order if I try to get it refilled. I must somehow convince my doctor that despite the fact that I have 9 months of refills remaining on this prescription, I need her to write me another prescription for the same quantity. But since this is a CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, that's going to be a hard sell. For all she knows, I'm going to get both filled and sell one on the street for a nice profit (and believe me, it's in demand). I'm not sure they will even legally be able to write another prescription.

I guess my best bet is to go to a brick-and-mortar pharmacy, ask whether they can tell the difference between a package and a bottle, and if so, have them transfer the prescription away from CVS Caremark. If that doesn't work, I may not be able to get treated.

CVS Caremark, you've made an amazing first impression. I'll be sure to let my company's benefits department know what I think about the switch from Mxxxo (which was always perfect) to CVS Caremark.
Sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome!
