American Air Duct Cleaning, Inc
Poor quality work

I had a coupon for air duct cleaning through American Air Duct Cleaning. When the technician arrived, he didn't even bother to introduce himself. I had questions during the duct cleaning process. He was rude, and told me that "I am a certified technician, I know my job!" I explained to him that I was inquiring as to the process because I am not a professional in this field, and want to understand what is being done.

As he was going through the process, he told me that there would be additional charges for the cold air return, and gave me a verbal price. He told me that I needed my motor cleaned, and he gave me another verbal price. Never did I see a written price list for the services that I was receiving. After all of the "add-in's" the cost of the service was four times the price of the coupon.

I pointed out all of my vents and ducts. He stuffed a chimney sweep into my ducts, and when he pulled it out, it was laden with dirt, and clumps of the stuff were falling off of the brush onto the floor, furniture, or wherever it landed. He never cleaned up the clumps that fell off of his brush, or offered to do so. He listed the actual number of vents on the "service contract", but did not clean them all. He also charged me for cleaning 2 returns, but only cleaned one. I had to tell him to clean one of my vents in the closet, or it would have been completely missed.

Once the cleaning was complete, he showed me at the base of the furnace that there was a bunch of dirt and debris, then vacuumed it out. After the cleaning, the ducts were never inspected, and I saw that there was still dirt in the bottom of the ducts.

As he was cleaning out the furnace, he blew out the pilot light with his air compressor. About 15 or so minutes later, I noticed that there was an odor of natural gas. I inquired about it, and he said that he knew how to do his job. Due to a language barrier, I did not argue. He spoke with an accent that sounded like possibly of Russian descent.

He cleaned up his hoses, and packed up his equipment. He went to re-light the pilot light, and could not get it lit. I had to show him how to do it. He advised me that there would be an odor of burned dust for about 10 minutes after the furnace is turned back on. Over 24 hours later, I still have a strong burning debris odor.

Once the furnace turned back on, loosened dust from the cleaning process was blown all over the house, covering all of the furnishings in black dust. My eyes burned, my sinuses were stuffed up and my throat was sore.

When I contacted the company the next morning, the person who I spoke to was quite rude, and got irate with me that I was complaining to them regarding their service. She was not willing to answer my questions, or allow me to explain issues that I had regarding the service. She stated that it was all outlined in the "contract" and that they fulfilled the requirements. They boast customer satisfaction on their website. I am not a satisfied customer.
