Complete scam, verbal harassment, immature sales tactics, complete waste of time

I responded to a craigslist ad about a company seeking new managers for a quickly expanding business. Also in the ad, it stated "must be a little crazy and love music" hell! Right up my alley. I am a musician and we are all a little nuts, so i called them and went in for my "first" interview. I was kind of dumbfounded by what i seen when i went to the office, they had 2pac on the stereo and everyone was so uppity i could have swore they were all on crystal meth. Seriously. No joke. So, i went into the interview with an open mind, and talked to the "owner" of the office. This dude looked like he just crawled out of a 2 month meth binge his teeth were rotted, ears gauged about the size of a golf ball, and tattoos everywhere. Still, he must have been doing something right. So, we did the interview and i asked him these two things:

1. Will i be on the street peddling cologne or perfume?
The answer was, NO.

2. Will the training be paid for?
The answer was, YES.

Needless to say, i bit. I was told to call him back to find out if i was accepted for the second interview at 5:15 that afternoon.

I called at 5:15 and asked to speak to the guy i had spoken to. I was greeted on this really weird, zany, off the wall girl that said (CONGRATULATIONS! You have been accepted! ARE YOU EXCITED!) my response was, um... Yeah sure when do i need to be in? Needless to say, my gut felt wrong about it. But, of course, as my story will tell, i lasted one week. Here's how it went.

First day of training:

Monday, 8:30 A.M.

I show up to the meeting dressed as nicely as possible with a professional attitude and eager to learn. Then, the meeting went with how you learn the business, and the history of the company. It lasted until about noon, and i could have swore i was being patronized the whole time. I was then told that this was the second interview, and to call again that night to see if i was accepted AGAIN. Of course, lucky me, i was accepted.

Second day:

I showed up to the meeting kind of skeptical. Of course, i was dressed neatly and ready to learn. Then we went on until about noon, showing us how the company was built and it all seemed legit. Hell, i kept telling myself to stick with it, this could pay off. Then i was given a list of the fragrances that they carry, and was told to see how many sales i could do over the phone to my family. They then asked me how many i thought i could sell, as if they wanted to get a quota out of me. I told them none. Everyone i know is broke, and i won't make any money off of it, and anyways, my whole family lives 1400 miles away. Still, they insisted it was part of getting comfortable with the product. I already was. So i called my "boss" later on that day and told her i talked to about 20 people and no one had any money. I really just went home and talked to my roomie about how frustrated i was that all the meetings seemed to be were prep rallies. I went to bed frustrated and reluctant to go to the meeting in the morning.

Third day:

I showed up late, and was greeted by everyone in the room spinning me around in a circle and screaming some sort of cheer about me being late that involved mother jokes, im ugly, i suck, im a piece of well, you know where i am going with this. I almost punched someone in the face. We were then given two samples to go sell on the street. This is what really upset me. Remember the two questions i said that i asked the owner when i started?

1. Will i be on the street peddling cologne or perfume?
The answer was, NO.

Well, THAT WAS A LIE! But, i figured it was jsut part of the training, and that i should go through with it. I sold nothing for the next two days and actually got ridiculed about it the next day when i showed up to work by some 40 year old Italian broad that resembled a washed up stripper telling me that i did not try hard enough. I was ready to explode.

You can pretty much count the 4th day as the third as well:

Yeah, another exciting day walking into an office with a splitting migraine headache from all the screaming and cheering, about one step closer to jumping off the highest building in the city. I still sold nothing, and was out until 1 a. M that morning. I was FURIOUS, EMBARASSED, AND READY TO SMACK ANYONE THAT SAID THE WRONG THING TO ME.

Friday, 5th day, oh how time flies by.

The last week has had to be the longest week of my life. My feet were blistered, i still had the migraine, (i never get migraines) and was sore, tired and just wanted to go sell some bottles to feed myself. We were forced to take part in warm up exercises and say stupid things back and forth to each other and play kindergarten games. Seriously. This is no joke. They go off of participation, and they bitch if you don't and annoy the hell out of you. So, i did the least participation as possible. I just wanted to make a sale to eat damn it! So, we left, i left with my "trainer" for the day that kept telling me to stick with it, and that all would be good. We hopped the bus all over the city and i sold two bottles and made ten bucks. Whoopditty whoop whoop. That was what i needed to get them off of my back about not selling any, so i went home and was going to go and "hustle" the grocery store and liquor store across the street from me. Well, i got to thinking, I GOT TO LIVE HERE! I am single, good looking and am way better than this. No way am i going to be forced to make a living selling cheap ass cologne and perfume where i live at. I was done. I slept in the next day and changed direction. I still have 4 bottles of their crap in my bag, and the guy upstairs hopefully buys one off of me. I am returning the merchandise Thursday and telling everyone in that office that it is a waste of their time, go find a real job, and don't let them brainwash you. And to anyone that has read this, The good things that have been written about this company on google, or any other search engine, are by the owners of this business, if you could call it that. Needless to say, save yourself the embarassment, humility, and stress and leave these people to drown. If i had it my way i would sure for sexual harassment for being touched the one day i was late. But in order to do that, i would have had to stick around. If i went one more day working for them, i would have shot someone. Please none of this is a joke no matter how funny it may seem. So please, forget these idiots they are just looking to take advantage of a foul economy and use anyone that does not have a job to make money off of them. If you sell one bottle at 20 bucks, you make nothing. Your boss makes 12. And her or him are selling them on the street for 15 bucks. Think about it. If you are already working or "training" for them, Give them their stuff back and GET OUT OF THERE.

Oh, and the training was to be paid for?

The boss told me $270-$380/week for training. They do not pay it.

The only way to get paid that much is if you sell anywhere from 27-38 bottles at $10 above what you pay for it. So, there's your training pay! THE OWNERS THEMSELVES CANNOT EVEN SELL 27-38 BOTTLES A WEEK, HOW CAN YOU? IT IS A SCAM.

Just envision yourself being one of the fools on the street trying to sell you cologne or perfume out of their backpack. This could be you if you sign up with scentura creations. Or in my city, all for one promotions.
