Scync Group HUGE Scam... Scam... Scam

My husband answered an ad on Craigslist for a company looking for managers to run stores in the Nashville area.

He was laid off from his job at an engineering firm when our daughter was 1 month old so he decided to take this job when they called him a second time. I was a little leary about it as he had not shown up to the first interview (what legitimate company calls someone back who never shows up to an interview!!!). He shows up at the office (a small office with no sign out front) for his interview and is taken into another office where him and another guy are having an interview at the same time. My husband is unable to ask any kind of questions as they keep telling him that any questions he has will be answered in the second interview and at orientation IF he's called back for the second interview (I have a feeling everyone is called back for a so-called second interview). A girl named Heather was conducting the interviews and was telling them how much money they would be making. $35,000 annually plus bonuses and the training was $200-$300 a week, paid in cash.

They tell him that they will call him between 4:30-5:15 pm to let him know if he would be coming back for a second interview. They called him and told him to "rest over the weekend and come in Monday at 11 A.M." Since he was desperate for work, he went and and sat through the so-called orientation and go through a series of quotes that are supposed to be uplifting and they show him how to play little games like Zoomie Zoom (I am not kidding, this is what they showed him the first day). He goes back on Tuesday (June 22) and they hand him a box of knock-off perfume/cologne and they tell him to sell it to family and friends. He is unable to do this as no one is going to pay $25 for knock off perfume when you can go to Fred's and get it for $1.

I was really leary at this point and decided to do some research about this company and I looked on the BBB website and found nothing under Scync Group but did find something under Scentura Creations in Atlanta, GA. On the BBB website, it stated that this company placed their ads under the title "Management" but that they were really looking for salesman.

He went back on Wednesday (June 23) and a guy named Al and Phil pulled him out of the "meeting" and told him that he didn't look as if he had a "good attitude" (they are really big on having a great attitude) and my husband asked them about what he saw on the BBB website and that's when their whole demeanor changed. They told him the BBB was nothing more than a "cult" and that my husband really shouldn't pay attention to what was on there. Al told my husband that if he had to have this same conversation again that he "would be angry" (who cares? He's about 5'3 and very unprofessional, my 13 year old is taller than he is). They let him go back into the "meeting" and then called him out of the "meeting" again, about 10 seconds later, and told him that since his attitude was bad that he needed to go home and think about what he wanted to do.

My husband went back on Thursday, June 24 and they send him to a "pitch class" and then out into the field to sell this crap. They send him to an area in Cool Springs, Wal-Mart parking lot to sell. On the way to this location, Woody (the guy driving to truck) tells my husband that you advance through training depending on how many bottles you sell and that you don't get paid for training unless you sell this stuff (which was their first lie) and that you will not get your own store when you're done with training, although they previously said that he would, but that you had to be put on a waiting list for your store and meanwhile, you would be selling their product in parking lots and the street.

When my husband called to let me know what was going on I told him to forget about this job and see if they could take him back to the office. Woody told him that he would not take him back to the office because he had "a girl with a GOOD attitude that was wanting to make money" (though none of them had sold anything). Woody takes my husband about 5 blocks away and drops him off at a strip mall and leaves him there to find his own way back or told him that he could wait at Woody's truck until they were ready to leave at 5:00. Woody wanted him to stand outside in 101 degree weather while him and another girl tried to peddle this crap. My husband was also told by Phil that women were an easy target, especially if they had kids, as he told my husband to spray the children so they would tell their parents to buy the perfume.

Please take this as a warning as I'm sure there are numerous people looking for legitimate jobs so don't waste your time with this place.

Hey Al, Phil and Heather..."that's what's up!!!"
