A fellow employee (Heather) told me to put in a code of the purchase was over $25.00. The first 2 persons to get this discount were her parents. Then I did it for 9 other customers. When it rang up it also gave a $5.00 coupon. I had no reason to disbelieve Heather because she used to be an assistant manager while she was going to College.
Assistant Manager Scheuer came to my register during the day and did some returns but never realized I had done the transactions with the code until the end of the day when she pulled my draw. Never said anything to me until she had pulled my draw. As she was walking away she was heard to say "They are already getting a $5.00 coupon." This was heard by the clerk running the front register.
I worked the next day Sunday and nothing was said. When I came into work on Monday Mr. Perino Store Manager told me that Mr. Bunyon (loss prevention) wanted to talk to me in the lunch room. I knew what it was about but I didn't expect the outcome.
Mr. Bunyon asked me to discribe what had happened telling him that the other gal had told me to do it. I had no reason to disbeliever her. He pointed out that I should of called a manager to check it out.
But in my defence they are always having others show you how to do things...
When I offered to pay back the money he seemed surprised. He said You want to pay it back." I said "Yes I am not a thief."
He left the room saying he didn't know what was going to happen but he would be back.
Mr. Bunyon and Mr. Perino returned. Mr. Perino then told me he was going to have to terminate my employment. I asked is that necessary and Mr. Bunyon says "ZERO TOLERANCE"
I asked about the other gal and they said they would talk to her. Mr. Perino gave me my pay up to that time and I paid the $50. To reimburse what I had caused in losses.
Through this whole time NOTHING was said about Mrs. Scheuer telling me not to do it. I never knew what she had said.
Later I found out that she said she had told me at 6pm not to do anymore of the transactions and I continued on doing it. That never happened. She didn't know about the transactions until she pulled my draw.
I feel this is in retaliation to times when I had turned Mrs. Scheuer and Mr. Perino in to the district for doing inappropriate things on several different occasions. She found a way to get me out of her hair.
There were video cameras showing that she was over there about 6pm but there is no audio so she could say she said anything to me.
I have written Corp. But they are only going on the facts that Mrs. Scheuer and Mr. Perino have supplied. Never was the other clerk asked if she saw anything.
And as for the gal who told me to put the code in to get the discount. She was promoted to Assistant Manager!
I do not want my job back I would not want to work with a bunch of liars and thieves. I just want it known that I did not do this intentionally. I also want them to check on the credibility of Assistant Manager Scheuer. If she would go to these kind of length to get me fired what else would she do?
This is not my only job. I am a School Bus Driver for First Student Inc. Hundreds of parents entrust their children with me to get them to School and home every school day. I am also a driver trainer. I have worked there for 31 years. I am well know in the community and do not need this to be said about me.
I don't feel that they investigated this enough. Never asked the other clerk about what happened. I have sent them a letter with her name and they have never contacted her.
