I was hired as a manager in training in June of this last year. I was trained by a 19 year old who was more concerned with her personal life than work, so I started figuring things out on my own. I was a good employee (by the Family Dollar Standards) because I actually showed up for work, on time, every shift.
So within two months the District Manager, Robert Hole, insisted I take over a store. I was basically given no choice because he told me that if I turned this down there would be no other offers. I told him up front that there was a lot I didn't know, and he promised me training with other managers, and that he would come in and help me out in the store I was going to.
Well he met me there my first day and I didn't see him again for over a month. When he did show up, he just said looks good and left. Well My crew and I did the best we could, and made the store look good, I however knew nothing on the office reports - NOTHING!
Finally, in January do to a refund scam that was running in our area, he realized that while the store was running good as far as looks, recovery and sales, the office was a mess. He and Loss Prevention were in my store for 4 hours that day and they both promised my employees and I that we would get trained ASAP - well that didn't happen. Then he started calling me and yelling at me for making him look bad in front of loss prevention, yelling at me for just about every thing. It ended when my assistant manager was sick and hospitalized, and was off work. I called him and asked for help - his response was you're a pretend manager - pretend to manage by yourself. I quit just a few days later.
