This story is actually a little sad, because I am going to have to close my Dell Financial account and not buy the laptop I was considering through the Dell account. This is sad because I love my desktop, I am typing this on the best computer I have ever had, and buying through them has been so convenient, I just click on what I want, charge it to my account and within two or three days it is delivered to my door. I bought my desktop in paid it off early bought a few other things and kept something on my account for two years. I never missed a payment was early with all of them and doubled all my payments, I did this with an auto debit straight out of my bank account, I set it up for a double payment and about a week before the monthly due date. But, in November I was paid down to a zero balance with $2500 credit limit and then the trouble started. I was looking forward to no debit in December, but I got a surprise! There on my online bank statement was a $30.00 debit. Surely this was a mistake. I called the Dell customer care number and got the longest chain of voicemail prompts, with no options to contact a real live person. The voice also told me that I had $2500 room on my account, then said you are presently overdrawn by $30.00. Then the voice went through the menu of options again, finally it said to speak to an opperator stay on the line. I stayed on hold forever, then got someone who could barely speak English. The person acknowledged that the debit was made by mistake and they would send a refund check arriving in three to five days. He said I should go online and stop the auto debits. Stopping the debits appeared to be easy enough and I got the check in three days. But, with January comes another debit. I go through the same bunch of hoops on the phone, again a mistake was acknowledged and I was promised a check in three to five days. That was early last week and still no check. So, I go back on the phone to find out when and if the check was mailed. Now, it seems all records of the overcharge, check, etc. Have vanished, nobody knows anything. The debits are supposed to be stopped, I hope so, I sure don't want to get ripped off for $30.00 every month. Any suggestions? I am going to contact the Texas Attorney General. I have composed a letter to the head of Dell Financial, I am going to send it out tomorrow by certified mail, in it I stated that I am taking the matter to the Attorney General. I am hearing that a number of people are having similar problems with this company, I wonder if there is any class action lawsuits in the works.
