Palm Harbor Manufacturing Homes Tossed me like a rag doll. Customer service not reliable nor there factory workers

This has been going on since we pretty much moved into our 1st brand new home in December. Close to the end of January we had a real bad wind storm come through, straight line winds, wind that could nock you over in a heartbeat. Well, we had a few shingles get blown off our roof or bent, our side door swung open and hit the fencing surrounding our trash cans also ripping the chain off the door.

Well, the door hit so hard that it cracked top to bottom inside the door and hadn't been able to shut it right since. You almost have to slam the door to have it stay close or dead bolt it. Then our front door swung open as well and snatched the chain and the hydrolicke shock. My husband injured himself trying to shut the front door smashing three of his figures, that's how bad the winds were that day.

My Husband had called Palm Harbor either the next day or the day after to report what happened and they told us that someone would be out to see the damage with in the week and that they will order us a new side door. Well about two weeks later without no pre-warning the factory called "Hi there we're on our way, please be sure to have someone at the home".

To let you in on a secret they say they will work with your schedule but 70% of the time it's there schedule you have to go by or things don't get fixed. But anyways Ok fine... Luckly they got a day that my Husband was off from work. They fixed the front door but still wasn't able to fix the side door cause the factory had to put in an order and was still waiting for it and didn't fix the schingles either. But the door itself is a whole other story. It took us 3 months to get the side door fixed.

Between my Husband and I, we called over a dozen times. One time they said they didn't order cause they thought my husband was the one that broke the door, then we told them no it was the storm. They had that door come in and left it sitting there for a while then it was put on a trailer so once the guy from the factory was done finishing up a home he would come by to change out the doors cause he would was only 30 minutes from our house.

I was told it would be a week from the time I was told the door was on the trailer 3 weeks later found out that the guy didn't finish on time or something went wrong so it was taken back to the factory supposedly. Another phone call was made and they couldn't find the door, 2-3 days later called again and pretty much cursed at who ever I spoke to including the supervisor they were saying they would have it out in a couple of days.

Finally calling 9 days straight after the last phone call they came out it was changed out. I promise we were almost blue in the face trying to get just the door fixed. So needless to say I got my side door fixed after calling and them coming out on a Saturday in the May to fix it. Now here is the thing, the door doesn't have a crack, all looks great, but take a guess the door STILL DOES NOT CLOSE RIGHT!!!

I have to slam the door for it to shut. Espeacially at night I will wake my children up one of these days just by closing the door. The guy that came out to fix it says that he wasn't able to get it on there any better and in nice terms I pretty much needed to deal with it. Well 30yrs in this home is a really long time for me to deal with it.

Well, the same day I took the guy from the factory on a "problem" tour. Things that needed to be fixed, One being the shingles that I still haven't had fixed from the wind storm at the end of January/beginning of Feburary and then some new problems. One being my counter top.in my formal dinning room I have a counter that has a little table attached to the main counter which I call the bar.

Well, I'll be damned if someone leans on it and falls to the ground and have to pay there medical bills. The support holding the counter top has been nailed on all messy and uneven. Even have a crack, but I have the granite top so you can't see it. Back to the factory guy... He said that he would put in a "ticket" to report all the other things wrong with my house. I even have the copies.

Well here it is June 30th and still nothing. Mind you this was in May that the guy last came out. I actually didn't want to deal with Palm Harbor because of all the hell that I have been going through so I took pictures of everything that needed to be fixed and this was before my door got fixed... But as of right know my husband has called to see about getting all of are things fixed. But to be honest I won't hold my breath for a second that they will get it fixed. Cause in December the warranty is up and if it isn't fixed by then... Believe in me there will be hell.

So my main reason for this report is that the company isn't reliable. I had to almost kiss peoples butt's until I had enough. I got tossed like a rag doll. I even had my electric turned off cause my heat kept turning on cause there was a gap in my side door so a lot of the air was warming outside then inside. The factory people are my main problem. There not adiquate and to be honest they don't care about customer satisfaction.

Well, that is part 1 of my story if my stuff doesn't get fixed by the end of 2008 there will be a part 2 of my problem. But to end my report of all the happy times in my life with our new home. I wouldn't recommend it or even think about refering any one to them for a new home. There customer service and the "factory workers" don't do things in a timely manner.
