I have been using VOIP for over 6 years, and this is the first time I have had to complain. Unfortunately the company that I had been using satisfactorily for years had gone out of business. I had to get my service from another provider. During my search I made the mistake of selecting JOI Phone, and I regret it to this day. I had planned to cancel my service with JOI Phone once my contract was up because of the subpar service.
However, JOI Phone beat me to the punch. One day I go to use my phone with my Unlimited Calling plan and I recieve this recorded voice instead of a dial tone. Well I call Joi Phone thinking this is some kind of technical difficulty and find out when this issue will be resolved. Unfortunately instead of customer service I recieved some crappy style service from 7 yes 7 different reps including 2 supervisors.
I was informed that my Unlimited Calling service was disrupted because of abuse. What? I was outraged I paid for Unlimited Calling Service and demanded that my service be turned on immediately. The reps told me that my calls were excessive, and I would need to pay an additional $45 a month to upgrade to a business plan. I am not a business I am a private residence with family that lives all over the country.
I refused to pay additional money and said "Either my Unlimited Service gets restored that I Pre-Paid for, or I am cancelling my account with you. What do I need to do to cancel my services with your company?" At this point I was beyond miffed to say the least. I was informed by the rep that in order to cancel my service I had to send an email because she couldn't just cancel it over the phone, and that I had to return the VOIP adapter in order to recieve an immediate full refund of monies I paid.
Fine that's exactly what I did. I sent my adapter back via USPS Priority Mail and phoned as soon as the adapter arrived. I spoke to a rep and asked "When can I expect my refund?" The rep replied "Within 6-8 weeks." "I was told that I would recieve an immediate refund as soon as you recieved the adapter." The rep replied "That was incorrect." I then called back in 6 weeks and spoke to yet another rep that said "Your refund hasn't been processed yet please call back in a few weeks."
I then call back today and I am beyond angry and I have been RIPPED OFF! Today I ask "When can I expect my refund?" The rep says "I don't know if you will recieve a refund because it says that we cancelled your service because of abuse." What? This is my first time hearing this and I am beyond ticked. I then ask "So all of the represenatives that I spoke to before you are incompetent liars because this is the first time of a mention that I will not get my refund."
Like a poor customer service rep he stayed in true form and was speechless. "I want to speak to a manager." He said "You can't speak to a manager because there isn't a manager available, or around right now." "I don't believe that I want to speak with someone in charge. Are you a supervisor?" He sheepishly responded "No... There's no one in charge right now." "Well I will wait until someone in charge shows up." He then hung up on me.
Joi Phone stole my money they falsely advertise services and do not provide what they promise to customers. Joi Phone promised to port/transfer my old number and this did not happen. I prepaid Joi Phone for a year of Unlimited Local and Long Distance calling, and I recieved less than seven months of service out of 12 months I prepaid. Joi Phone promised to refund my money once they recieved their adapter back. Joi Phone has not refunded my money. Beware of Joi Phone because they are liars, thieves, and all in all rip off artists!
