For 2 plus years I have had Verizon Unlimited mobile broadband on my laptop. 3 months ago I tried to lower my monthly bills and contacted Verizon to minimize my phone service. The rep told me the best way was to change my internet service to a limited plan. I asked if it did not fit my needs could I return to the unlimited plan, he said certainly.
The plan reduction which should have saved my $20 per month saved me $4 for the 1st three months and I still recieved my unlimited plan. Today I recieved a $2,500 bill for last months internet. The billing rep credited my account immedietly, but could not get approval to reinstate my "unlimited plan" because it is no longer offered.
I look around at other providers and see that all of them no longer offer "unlimited", but all convieniently offer the same 5Gb service for $60. I am currently under appeal to be "grandfathered" in at the unlimited rate. The $4 decrease in my bill I recieved was not from changing my service as the price I paid for unlimited for 2 years was $59.99 and the price I paid after the plan was changed was $59.99.
I am hoping others who have had this happen to them will find this and contact me. From what I can tell Sprint and AT&T both did the same thing and it appears as if they have collaborated to set their prices in order to get money for nothing. P.S. Four days into the new billing cycle I have already used 3.3MB and would have already been set to recieve another $2,500 bill for next month had I not recieved the paper bill in the mail, now I know the reason why several months ago Verizon aggresivly tried to get me to go paperless billing.
To the lawyers out there: I am open to any private or class action lawsuits if it turns out that this was done illegally. I have previous bills that all say different. Mar. States unlimited May charges me as unlimited but does not state it and does not give me a GB count as all previous bills have and current June gives me a GB overage count where I used double the amount. Hmmm 5GB= $60 10GB=$2,500.
