We have been trying to cancel our phone service with Viatalk since Spetember 11, when we switched to Charter telephone service. We emailed at least 3 times. Each time we were asked to verify the last 4 digits of the card on the account and each time we did. However our service was never cancelled and we have continued to be billed for a service that we are not using. The account records shoudl verify that there has been absolutely no activity on the account since September 11th. After having finally had enough, I called today and spoke with a live person. She did cancel the account and sent an email confirming it but she then proceeded to charge me $50 for the adapter. I am livid! I am sending the adapter to Viatalk via USPS Priority Mail and they should have it by the end of the week, at which time they are supposed to refund my $50. However, it is just not right to charge the $50 in the first place, just as it was not right to continue to charge me for service that I am not using. They should allow the customer to have 7-10 business days to return the equipment and THEN charge them if it is not returned and when a customer asks to cancel an account it shoudl be done immediately without question!
