I signed a nine month lease with The Bluffs apartments. I lived in the apartment for two months and one week I moved out because I lost my job. I continued to pay my monthly rent until one month before the lease was up, at which time they rented the apartment. They notified me after I had sent in my final months rent. They also informed me that they were keeping all depostis and wanted additional $202. To cover the cost of carpet replacement for $557.00.
Unfortunately, I now live in Houston and it is difficult and expensive to commute to Temple to file a suit in small claims court. There is absolutely no good reason to replace the carpet. I left the apartment in good condition and find myself at their mercy because they turned over the $202. To a collection agency. I have good credit and certainly do not want this on my record. I would like to receive the $557.00 back and the additional $75. The charged to redecorate the apartment. Renter be ware of their contract. It basically gives them a license to charge you for redecoration when you move out. The total due me is $682.
