I was near using the maximum minutes of my monthly plan approx. 1 week before the next monthly billing cycle was to begin but I still had many work phone to place & so I phoned Cingular Wireless and asked what were my options to get more minutes, what charges would apply?
I was told by a Cingular Wireless telephone representative that any minutes used over my max would be "prorated" to a plan w / more minutes. She even said "oh, no problem." I said, "great, thank you so much."
Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
PRO-RATE: to divide, distribute, or assess proportionately
To be safe, I asked exactly what would I be billed. I was told "I would be billed my regular bill the additional prorated minutes". I said "great, I don't have to buy a whole new plan. I'll just get charged for the minutes that I actually use."
My bill was usually about $50.00 My bill came in the mail for about $600.00 I was deliberately misled and lied to.
I went to a Cingular Wireless store in person and discussed the details of my situation w / (4) employees for about (2) hrs. We all finally agreed to the fact: THERE IS NO WAY TO GET MORE MINUTES UNTIL THE NEW BILLLING CYCLE BEGINS, "PRORATION" IS ENTIRELY & DELIBERATELY MISLEADING.
Is there a class action lawsuit yet? I am sure there will be, as sure as I live in U.S.A.
