I have been a customer of direct tv for the past 2 years approx. I have paid my bill every month. However in April I received a past due bill for $597.51 I called direct tv to find out why? The man I spoke with said it was for a bill from my previous address for not returning there equipment and service at that address. This was over 2 and a half years ago. I know when I moved from that address I returned all there material and was up to date with my payments. I moved to Oregon for 6 months and when I returned I set up a new account with them there was no mention of any past due charges nor did I receive any billing from direct tv during this time. I have tried to resolve this matter with them to no avail they have hung up on me called 2 to 3 times daily and when I answer there's no one there I say hello 2 or 3 times and no one answers. I have ask for and itemized statement with dates and times of the service without getting any. I cancelled my service with them and sent them a check for $173.00 for the service at my present address. They have told me they will send my account to a collection agency. If I pay this bill I don't feel I owe can I recoup these funds in small claims court? I don't want my credit score affect by a bill that came out of left field. Can you help me?
