Lillian Vernon Rewards, Encore Corp
En Core Marketing Unauthorized use of credit card

In January I ordered a suitcase for my son from the Lillian Vernon clearance catalog. I order from the catalog once annually or biannually. The suitcase arrived in good order, and I thought nothing of it until this past weekend when I paid my Discover bill online. I logged in to see how much I had charged thus far on my bill ("Recent Activity" section) to be received later this month when I made my own "Discovery, " a $14.95 charge from LillianVernonRewards.com. I never sign up for rewards programs where I have to pay. I immediately called Discover but was told over automated voicemail I needed to contact Lillian Vernon Rewards before disputing through Discover. I tried to call the 1-800 number but was told I was calling past business hours. I called Discover back and the CSR was very helpful and let me dispute the transaction. Plus, she told me she would give me a temporary credit which did appear on my account in a couple of days.
Since I could not reach Lillian Vernon Rewards by phone, I sent them an email (which is when I found out I was emailing the rip-off artists at En Core Marketing), requesting the removal of the $14.95 charge and cancellation of any program I might have inadvertently joined. I informed them I had already disputed the charge with Discover. I also called back during business hours and cancelled my membership via automated messaging. The automated service did not allow one to speak with a living person. I did hear back from En Core via email today and although they "stand by" my purchase as a valid sale, they will be refunding my $14.95. How good of them!
After reading through other complaints, I can only assume that because I signed up for $15.00 off coupon on my next purchase (There will not be one now!), my information somehow got to En Core. What a crappy business! I should probably call the BBB and complain, too.
