I was checking my Discovercard statement the other day and noticed a charge marked merchandise for $14.95 from Lillian Vernon. My wife often buys from the Lillian Vernon catalog so it didn't seem unusual. Then I started to review my previous month's charges and realized that this charge of $14.95 was on other months also. I immediately called the "800" number associated with the charge and found that this was a travel club we have somehow signed up for in October of last year while buying merchandise from Lillian Vernon! I immediately canceled the charges and was told by the service associate that they would remove two previous months charges also which was little consolation being that I was charged for ten months at $14.95 a month! In other words $149.50 for nothing!
