Bills $9.99 to cell phone without fair warning and ignores stop service messages

My teenage son took an IQ test on his cell phone. Not so smart. I know. He knows.

After the test was completed, Mobile Messenger asked for the cell phone number so that the results could be provided.in fact, they get the cell phone number so that they can automatically bill through the cell phone provider. They know most people would not be dumb enough to pay $9.99 for silly incoming text messages, so they route it through the cell phone company. The cell phone company does, by the way, get a cut of the profit.

Immediately AFTER the cell number was put in, Mobile Messenger pops up a message about the $9.99 charge. There is a cancel button. My son cancelled immediately.in fact, Mobile Messenger confirmed that he cancelled less than 2 minutes after activation.

The cancel or stop service does not work. My son sent cancel messages two additional times as also confirmed by Mobile Messenger. The billing, however, continued.

Mobile Messenger insists that they have a three step process before billing. They say that it's impossible to sign up without being warned. Mobile Messenger can't explain why the service was listed as starting a full day prior to the actual IQ test call (other than suggesting it's an international time zone issue). They also can't explain how the sign up system could be perfect and the stop service could be so messed up.in this case, the company rep suggested that my son continued to sign up for the service over and over. I don't need an IQ test to know that's stupid. My son did not keep taking IQ tests after seeing the $9.99 note after the test.

This is not an isolated problem. You can check online and find that many people have been taken by Mobile Messenger. Some get scammed online and others on cell phones. Some put in the cell phone number as requested for results to quizzes etc. Others say they did not.

In addition, you will see that Mobile Messenger settled on a class action law suit. If you were ripped off prior to Aug you may be able to get your money back with the class action suit. If not, I would guess that there will be another one. This online scam which benefits Mobile Messenger and the cell phone companies financially must pay very well. They will settle and pay out when pushed but continue to scam people. I guess enough people just chalk up the $9.99 for a month or two or several that Mobile Messenger can afford to pay a few off when pushed to the wall.

If you are getting charges on your cell phone bill from Mobile Messenger, call your cell phone company and call Mobile Messenger. Continue to watch the bill too, because they do not make much effort to follow up on cancellation. If you let it slide, they will be more than happy to take your $9.99 a month.
