I purchased an HP laptop from Fry's Electronics in Dallas Texas and was asked to download the rebate form. The url printed on the receipt did not work so I contacted the store and they gave me a new url which worked. I submitted the upc code from the box, the original rebate receipt and my personal information requested.
After two months I went to the hp site to check on my rebate and it was not found. Two weeks later I check again and same result. I called hp in El Paso Texas and they told me to re-submit which I did. A month later, same result. The hp website could not find my rebate. I called again and spoke to a different person and was given a different fax number to re-submit my rebate. Two weeks later, same result.
I called hp again and was asked if I had the original upc code from the box, but I told the hp representative that I mailed the original rebate because it was required for the rebate. I was told that she was sorry, but I needed the original rebate receipt and the original upc code from the box. I told the hp rep that was impossible since I mailed the original stuff when I applied for the rebate. She said she was sorry, but that is what I needed before she could help me. Hello.
I feel that I have been ripped off by what I thought was a legitimate offer, but it appears that the hp offer was a hoax and a ploy for me to buy their product. I am happy with my laptop but I would have bought a different brand had it not been for the $50 rebate offer. I've been had.
