I purchased a metal detector from chapmansltplus.com (who is a seller on ebay) in May for $200 (I paid using a usps money order), contacted them through email after I got the item because I was not pleased with it and wanted to know if I could return it and they sent me an email stating send it to (and gave me an address) and we will send your refund. I sent item through usps mail with delivery confirmation, so I know that they have the item back. Once they got the item back they said they do not offer refunds, even though they had sent me an email stating to send the item for a refund.
I continued to try to communicate with them telling them that someone at their company said they would send a refund and now that they have the item back, they need to return my money. At one point they said the boss was out of town and there was no one there who could send me the refund, so I waited for his return. Eventually they said they would be sending me my refund IF I had a negative comment (I wrote "they will not communicate with me) removed from the ebay website.
When I contacted ebay, ebay told me that a seller can not ask for a buyer to remove feedback that has been posted, that this is "feedback extortion" and the seller has no right to do this. I was told to open a dispute on ebay, which I did, but when that got me nowhere, I was advised by ebay to escalate the dispute to ebay's Trust and Safety Team (who I thought was going to take actions against the seller to force the seller to send me my refund)
This has been going on since May, it is now the very end of July and I still have not resolved the issue. I have tried to email chapmansltplus.com but get no response from them, I can not contact them by phone, ebay has been of no help in assisting my in getting my money back and I do not know where to turn and I do not want to just give up on ever getting my $200 back.
I am extremely upset that chapmansltplus.com has obviously stolen my money, and ebay is stilll allowing them to sell on their website despite the fact that the seller lied to me, stole from me and tried to use extortion to get me to remove a comment I posted on ebay in order for them to send my refund.
Chapmansltplus.com has no right to keep BOTH my money and the item I returned to them. I am at a loss as to where to go from here, I am not getting any help from any of the sources I have tried. I am not about to just give up, since it is a HUGE injustice. Two hundred dollars is a great deal of money to me, I do not have money to pay a lawyer to go after the company, because it would probably cost more to do that than the $200 that I am trying to get back.
But I feel as if there must be a way that somebody can help offer me some advice as to what steps to take to get my money back withouth spending more money. I have invested numerous hours sending emails back and forth to ebay customer support trying to get help in getting my money back and so far I keep hitting a wall.
If there is anyone who can help me with real advice, a method that will work to get my money back, I would love to know what to do.
I have already reported chapmnasltplus.com to IC3.com, BBB and the USPS (for mail fraud since I paid with a usps money order) I really do not want to give up since what is being done is illegal and wrong and no one should be able to just keep my $200 like chapmansltplus.com is doing. They have NO reason to keep the money, I have sent them the item back and have proof that they received it, all I want is my refund and I will not stop until I get it.
