Cancellation of CONFIRMED appointment

Why is it that Comcast insists on having a technician call you prior to coming to your confirmed appointment? Then, if the technician does not get an answer when they call, the appointment is automatically cancelled and you must reschedule.

Twice I have called and made an appointment and both times I missed the call due to either being on the phone or having stepped away and my appointments were cancelled. The last time, which was time number 3, when I called to make the appointment I made sure the customer service rep had the correct phone number. The account is under my wife's name and phone number but since I was going to be the one at home I made sure that the rep noted on the service call that the technician should call me NOT my wife. Well, there I am at home waiting for the technician to show up, when the phone rings and it's my wife. She tells me that the technician called her cell phone, which was in the bottom of her purse so she didn't hear it, and left a message saying that the appointment was cancelled and we had to call to reschedule. Now here I am taking a day off from work, no Comcast technician, no cable, no Internet, and nothing much to do but call Comcast and get angry.

I can understand calling to confirm an appointment. What bugs me is that they automatically cancel if you don't answer the phone making the assumption you don't want the appointment. I guess you not answering the phone means you're not home or you don't want this confirmed appointment to take place.

Comcast change your system!!!
