In Oct I choose peoplepc to be my internet provider. The deal I made with the company at the time was to pay $10.95 per month for one year. The charge was made to my debit card and the funds were taken from my checking account and were reflected on my statement as visa check. I paid each month.in Oct of after a hard day at work, I turned on my home computer, found I had no internet service and remembered my "contract" was for one year. I tried for three weeks to access the internet through peoplepc and was unable to so I called peoplepc to verify my accont was no longer active. The representative told me "not to worry." I assumed the deal was over and found a new ISP.
My new ISP is earthlink. I have ahd several problems with Earthlink and have contacted them on a regular basis. When I found out Earthlink and Peoplepc are related, I asked the representaive at earthlink if I was still conected with peoplepc. He said, "no." I had asked because my bank statements still had $10.95 visa check each month. After the rep. Told me no, I was stupid enough to belive the "visa check" was for something else because I use my debit card often. Imagine my surprise when I recived a phone call from peoplepc wanting my new debit card expiration date!
After several converstions with several customer service reps, I found I was supposed to get a cancellation confirmation number in Oct of 06. I told the reps: My service was cut off, I called Peoplepc and was told "not to worry." Today, during my many converstions, I was given two cancellation confirmation numbers by two different individuals. The second individual stated that the first number was unrecognizable to him after I recited it!!! I was alos informed that my account is two months delinquent; but they would contact the corporate office and for me to call in a couple of days to see if I would get a refund. It seemed more beneficail for me to contact the president of the company myself.
After researching the company, I found the name of the president and his phone number. I plan to call Monday. If it gets results I will post the phone number and name.
