One of America's largest internet service providers kept charging my credit account for a year and a half after I had called their cancellation department, and requested to have my service terminated

In the early summer of 2004 I decided to cancel my internet service with Earthlink. Subsequently I called customer service, and was connected to someone in the cancellation department who I told to terminate my service.

Ironically the ISP I started using after leaving Earthlink, was called PeoplePC, and they turned out to be a sister company to Earthlink, but charged only half the price for a similar service. PeoplePC provided me with good service, and stayed with them until the end of 2005.

A week ago I decided to reveiw my financial records, and to my amazement discovered that Earthlink had never cancelled my account and had continued charging me 25.90 a month for a year and ahalf. Those charges cumulatively amount to about 500 dollars. I've concluded that human error, and negligence on the part of someone in the Earthlink organization has resulted in outright theft.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I could recoup my financial loss, please let me contact me.
