Tiger Direct
Ripoff rebate scam Florida

Last year I bought a big-screen TV from tigerdirect.com. It had a $75 rebate. It came as quite a surprise to me that after filing my rebate, the company claims to have never received it. I sent a message to TD, and they told me about their Rebate Guarantee, which basically says if you have photocopies of all of your rebate materials, UPC codes, etc, and you sent the rebate via certified mail, and have a receipt for that, they will guarantee your rebate. Well, I did not send it via certified mail. I have never in my life had a piece of mail lost, and find it hard to believe that my mail simply never got there.

I swore off TigerDirect and called it a loss.

They continued to send me marketing via email, and in a very short period of time both my monitor and my DVD drive died. I sent an email to TD telling them I would like to buy from them again, but after my bad experience I was hesitant. They said that if I follow the rebate procedures carefully I should have no problems, but again reminded me about the Rebate Guarantee.

I placed two separate orders for the monitor and DVD drive, both of which had hefty rebates. I followed the rebate instructions to a T, enclosing all the necessary information, including the invoice provided by the TD website, and sent these via Certified mail with return receipt, at a cost of over $12.

Recently when i checked the status of my rebates online, they were listed as incomplete because there was no shipping address on the invoice. I enclosed the invoice that was provided for me BY Tiger Direct!!! I would file a Rebate Guarantee with TigerDirect, but I did not photocopy all of my papers, as I figured that by submitting my materials to a T I should have no problems, but alas, TD has kept me from MORE of my money.

This is a company that encourages you to buy based on their huge rebates, but in 4 out of 4 instances, I never saw a penny of these rebates, and in fact have LOST money on shipping, and am stuck with items I never would have bought had I known I would not receive the rebate. Furtrhermore, the very invoice that Tiger Direct provides for submission for rebates does not even contain shipping information, a fact they should be aware of when so heavily promoting rebates.

I am out over $250 just in the past year. Thanks Tiger Direct.
