I purchased over $800 worth of merchandise from TigerDirect. One of the items, a Sceptre HDTV had a $60 Rebate. To obtain the rebate, the purchaser must send a signed rebate form, the UPC label from the box, the serial number label from the box, and a copy of the Tiger Direct Invoice.
After complying with all of these requirements (as if an invoice is not enough), OnRebate.com denied my rebate claiming that I had not sent "the correct UPC". I sent the ONLY UPC on the box aside from the UPS shipping label, so it was the correct UPC. Furthermore, my TigerDirect invoice proves that I purchased the item in question.
I contacted TigerDirect about this rather transparent rebate scam but predictably they were not helpful, referring me back to OnRebate.com when I was unable to produce the "correct UPC" that I had to carve out of a cardboard box and send to OnRebate.com. Of course, when I tried to contact OnRebate.com no one responded to my complaint at all.
I wish I had read the reports on TigerDirect here on usacomplaints.com before I had placed my order with TigerDirect. So many other folks have had problems with TigerDirect and OnRebate.com over these absurd rebate requirements and rebates being denied for arbitrary reasons. I will not purchase from Tiger Direct again. Had I read this website first, I would not have purchased from TigerDirect in the first place.
