Ripoff Internet

Apparently in March my 11 yr old son clicked on a free trial for AOL service that came free in a cereal box. I do most of my banking online and didn't notice a $28.98 charge each month. Apparently when my son clicked on AOL my bank information popped in. There must have been a 60 day free trial.

Well in December I thought hey I remember seeing this charge before and i dont know what it's for. Went to my bank and they said it appeared to be a charge for AOL service. They said it had been withdrawn from my account since June. We had never used the AOL service. I had local dial up and the service would have given me long distance charges.

I called Aol THREE times and got 3 different stories. They all agreed that the service would be canceled because a minor had started the acct. They could refund 2 months (minus $5.00/transaction that my bank charged). If I wanted the rest of my money back I needed to go to the bank and get copies of the withdrawls, then send it in for review by the COMMITTIE. I did that and never heard a word since. I did receive the $48.00 tho.

How can such a large company treat consumers like this and get by with it? Any ideas on what to do? I guess they make a lot of $ operating like this and then people just give up and let them keep it!
