Free trial is not free

Stay away from stamps.com they are not worth the convenience of printing your own postage at home. I received a disc in the mail stating a free 30 day trial period to try the service so I signed up on jun 21 but I decided to cancel my subscription which I did but a few days after the trial period expired. I was charged $17.99 which I though was for the new month which they prorated me and charged me $3.48 which was fine but then I noticed the $17.99 charge stayed on my credit card account. I called stamps.com cs to find out why the $17.99 was not refunded or the charge dropped and I was informed that because I did not not cancel the serivce before the trial period ended I was retroactively charged for that free trial month. The last time I checked a free trial period meant free as in never being charged for that month whether the service is cancled or continued. I argued with the cs rep to no avail and was refused when I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told to look it up when I asked for the corporate address so I could file a complaint with the BBB in that city. I did send off an email threatening to file a BBB complaint and to leave negative reviews at every consumer review website I could find on the internet and guess what a few hours later I received an email stating not only will my $7.99 be refunded but also the $3.48 I was charged. Just remember when it says free trial period it is only free if you continue that service or cancel it within the 30 day window otherwise they retro actively charge you for that free month.
