My fiance & I signed contracts for 1 year memberships, $29/month (approx. April) at Guaranteed Fitness. Just before the membership expired I received flyers in the mail from Guaranteed Fitness regarding signing up for $29/mo. Memberships for the NEW 24 hr gym. I decided to go back to check out the "new" 24 hr gym, but was told my membership expired (this was around May) & could no longer use it in their gym. I left. Months later, I realized they had been taking $39 for each of us out of our joint account after I had been told the membership expired. We also had signed for $29/month, not $39! I called to speak with the owner who for 2 days did not return my call.in his absence, I spoke to another woman who was willing to predate a cancellation letter including all my comments so I would not get charged another month. I went in the following day to sign and speak with Bruce, the owner, but he crumpled the letter and said you cant predate. I had to write a quick cancellation letter. I was told I'd be charged another month because it wouldn't be canceled for another 30 days! I asked for a refund, but the owner was rude and said I signed a contract that rolls over. I asked to see copies of the contracts we signed, but he said it was in Texas and he'd have a copy for me to pick up on Monday, Oct. 4th. I stopped by today, Thursday, Oct. 7th, & he didn't have the copies. I asked when I should expect to come back for them, but he said he didn't know. I asked if he requested the copies from his billing company in TX. He said yes. I asked how they would send them; by fax or mail. He said he didn't know, didn't care. I asked if he could call the billing company to find out when and how he should expect the copies and he told me he had better things to do! I asked when I should expect to come back to pick them up & he said, I'll have them when I have them. I asked for the number for the billing company and he refused to give me the number. I'm out over $450 - the man was robbing me blind! He has no compassion for his customers & is not willing to work anything out when his employee had given incorrect information to begin with. I do not believe they have the contract any longer or realize it will show they have been stealing from me which is why he refuses to give me a date to pick up the copy or call & continually tries to show me a blank copy of the NEW contract. The contract I signed will show there is no roll over and it was for $29/month each NOT the $39/each a month being robbed from our bank account.
