I joined la fitness in 8 of 2000 thinking it would be a good idea to stay in shape, boy was i wrong.
I signed with a month to month membership and was told that i could stop at any time.
Well six months in to my membership something came that i had to cancel. So i sent in my cancelation thru the internet, well after i found out i would not be relocating with my job. About 2- months later i joined the gym again i was told that i would have to pay first last month to get started again.
No problem i paid it but later i found that their was a balance on my account of 145.00
When i asked about the no one why it was there.
Well when i checked this out with there corp office i spoke with a rep who told that the balance was there because when rejoined i had to pay for the months that i didn't go.
I explained to him that i had a month to month membership so i should not have to pay for something that i didn't apply to me.
Thinking that i would get more satisfaction i asked to speak to a superviser i then was transfered to manager by the name of esteban and told him about my problem.
He also said that because i rejoined the gym that i would have to pay back dues i asked how could this be right if i was going month to month?
He could not give me a good reason why.
I also asked was this in my contract that i signed he said no, i also requsted a copy of the contract but was told he could not send that to me.
A few days later i spoke with someone by the name of shelly who was also suppose to be a manager but again no help, she stated that even if that was not in my contract that was part their policy.
I later contacted my attorney and avised him on what was happening, he told me that if la fitness couldn't and would not produce the contract that i signed i cann't be held liable.
I must say i was surprise at how rude and unprofessional, noncompassionate these individual's were concerning my situation.
But i must say the employee's that i meet at the gym were very nice and friendly. So guy's and gals becareful with what gym you might join.
