Purwhitening representative told me on the phone that I had until May 30 to cancel the account. I sent them an email requesting cancellation on the 29th. On June 1st I received a reply saying that my account was canceled, however they charged my card 79.95 on May 30. They canceled my account 3 days after the request and charged my card AFTER the cancellation request was made. They refuse to give me a refund.
Also, my bank statement shows 2.25 " foreign ATM fee " associated with this transaction. When I questioned them about it, their reply was " well, we are an international company. Your bank charged you this fee, not us." I believe the consumer should be made aware of such fees before they actually buy anything.
When I talked to them on the phone, at the end of the conversation the girl (Lucy, Agent #30) told me that it had been recorded. As far as I know it is illegal to do without my consent and/or notifying me in advance, before the conversation takes place. Nice business practices throughout!!!
