I signed up with an eInsurance site to get competing quotes from health insurance companies. Almost immediately, I got a call from a DirectMed representative. The representative knew I was looking for health insurance and knew I currently was not insured. However, that did not stop her from selling me this DirectMed.
Almost as soon as I completed the transaction, I received an email with the digital copy of the membership card stating in bold letters: THIS IS NOT INSURANCE
I researched this further and decided to call them back and cancel. I called them back within two hours of the transaction. They allowed me to cancel, but told me they could not refund 135$ because it was a non-refundable processing fee. My impression is this company is in business to collect 135$ from people as processing fees.
