The Brick: How the Brick delivery dept loses $2000 sale - Cindy Crawford collection Sofa and Loveseat

Last week I purchased a sofa, loveseat, and 7 piece dinette set from the Brick. The in-store experience was fantastic as the salesperson was professional, courteous, helpful and friendly. Couldn't have been happier. The trouble started when it came time to deliver the furniture. The dinette set was delivered first as it came straight from the store which is located 10 mins walk from my home, and since there was a snow storm on the delivery date, the warehouse postponed the delivery of the sofa and loveseat. When the dinette set was delivered, the 2 delivery men grumbled because they had to go up a flight of stairs to the main floor of my townhouse. It was so uncomfortable that I eventually had to help these two men carry up a couple of chairs. Mind you, I am a 47yr old woman who's just recently had back surgery. This was however, mitigated by the fact that they agreed to put the 4 legs on the table rather than wait for me to call the store, given the snow outside and other deliveries they had. Then came the sofa and loveseat 4 days later. This time, as I was at the hospital for tests and followup visit all day, my son stayed home from work to receive the furniture. This time there were 3 delivery men and again they complained about having to take the furniture up a flight of stairs, and found every excuse in the book as to why they "couldn't do it". First, they told my son he'd have to "put the elevator on service". When my son told them (the obvious) that this was a townhouse therefore no elevator, they said there's no way the couches will fit through the door. My son said he believed it would and asked them to try, of course there was no problem getting the couch through the door. The next thing was there was no way the couch would fit up the stairs. Again my son said he believed there was ample room and would they at least try, once again there was no problem getting the couch up the stairs. This did not make them happy at all. Once the couch was at the top of the stairs, all they need to do was stand it up and then tip it into the living room. And of course they started saying "there's no way" they could get it onto the main floor from the stairs. At this point I called home to check how things were going and my son started to tell me what was transpiring, when I heard from the background "You liar. Why are you lying." My son turned to the man who said this and said "Excuse me? Did you just call me a liar? Did you not just say the couch won't fit from the stairs onto the landing?" And I heard the man yell "Aren't we trying?!" At which point my son said "I never said you weren't trying. I am explaining what you just said..." At which point he was cut off by the same man who said ""F" this. We're taking the furniture back."

Now, if this wasn't bad enough, when we called their delivery department to tell them what had just transpired, they ACTUALLY stood by their rude, abusive, lazy delivery men! Their actual words were "Well, they've worked with us for a long time and they wouldn't lie."!! So, in effect, not only was my son called a liar while I was on the phone with him, but now I had their fleet manager calling ME a liar! To add insult to injury, they then told me I "had to" go into the store and select another couch! Needless to say I immediately cancelled the order altogether. So, that's how the Brick delivery deptartment loses the Brick a $2000 sale. They CLEARLY don't give a second thought to their customers and so, I will never step foot inside a Brick store. Sounds like they're rolling in the dough if they believe their staff can abuse their customers to their little heart's content.
