New Computers No Working Internet No Matter What We DO!

I never bought anything from Best Buy before a year ago, because when I was younger my family ALWAYS had problems with costumer service there, even with something as simple as a flip phone not working, I would never hear good reviews about what my parents experienced. About a year ago in August I was getting ready to start school and decided I wanted a nice SIMPLE laptop to use to write up papers and occasionally surf the web or facebook for when I was away at school. At the time I was helping my aunt with her kids,

So she took me to Best Buy one weekend to help me pick out a smaller more portable computer then I had at the time. I went into Best Buy and everyone was very helpful and kind and found me exactly what I was looking for. They tried to sell us on the protection programs, anti-viruses, and the restore set up disk thing. My aunt said no to all of that because my Grandmother was buying me a protection program from a better place and my aunt was going to give me antivirus. As for the restore disks, we were planning on only having it for possibly six months when I could afford a better computer to buy.

At this point the computer was a SONY VAIO (I never had a problem with the company). So we take my new computer back to her house and set it up to get everything working just fine and dandy. The internet didn't work at first on the laptop so she simply reset the router and we tried again. Then it worked! For about 30 Minutes. Then it stopped working again, so the next day we took it back to Best Buy to see what was wrong with it. They said they would exchange it and said it was something I probably downloaded off of Facebook or something [I am very careful about my downloading and

What I allow on my computer so I was completely upset at them for even saying something like that! ] They then told us that they wouldn't be able to get another one of that laptop for another WEEK, well you see I was flying home the next day so that wouldn't work. They set it up so we could pick up a laptop the next day at a Best Buy on our way. We said that was fine and then they said so that it didn't happen again they recommended the restore process. We agreed to that as well since we wouldn't get it until the next day anyway so we paid the $100 more and left planning on picking it up the next day. After this everything went fine the computer completely worked and everything!

Now just today [7/7] we went to Best Buy again to get a new computer after mine was wrecked in a fire on vacation and I need a new one before I go to California so I can keep in touch with everyone. So we went and bought one for about the same price so that the insurance would pay for it. My mother's new boyfriend offered to do the restore for me when I get home from California so when we picked it up from the same Best Buy as last time we declined the restore process again because we wouldn't just have to pay for the process but also a flash drive because my new computer is one of those ultrathins without a disc drive.

ANYWAY, so we go about the rest of our day thinking there will be no problems, when we get home tonight and try to turn it on it won't connect to the internet [hmmm] and then my aunt goes and tries to reset the router like the computer says, when she does it works for thirty minutes and then it won't work again. I didn't know what to do! It happened last time because we didn't do the Best Buy $100 process and now it is happening again! So when this happened I wondered if something was not wrong with my computer so I called one of my friends and he looked at it and tried to decide what was wrong with it.

He then asked what was coming up when it was starting and I told him it was 'the best buy store app'. He then groaned and said 'Ah... Best Buy' I asked him what he could possibly mean when he says that and he said that Best Buy puts all this stuff on their computers when they get them so unless you get the restore it won't work! I wouldn't believe it if it had just happened to be once! But it happened to me TWICE on two completely different brands of computer from the same Best Buy. We are planning on taking it back tomorrow and seeing what happens. I will be sure to post an update when I know.
