I have AT&T phone and use it for business. Over the past few months calls have been dropped at an increasing rate. AT&T went through the "troubleshooting" and they claim "our service works just fine".
The phone has been updated regularly, cycled regularly, never been dropped nor abused nor damaged.
The AT&T service simply DOES NOT WORK when I am in any given city in the South Bay. When it does "work", the phone drops calls a good portion of the time.
If you are thinking about getting AT&T and the iPhone and you live in one of the following cities:
Manhattan Beach
Redondo Beach
Torrance
Lawndale
Hawthorne
Hermosa Beach
Greater Los Angeles
(if you live in the "Beach Cities", forget about AT&T altogether. There are HUGE deadspots in the area)
You might want to think twice about getting AT&T cell phone service as the service does NOT work as advertised.
AT&T is refusing to grant me an "early termination fee" waiver and now I am stuck for 2 years with this atrocious service. This is detrimental to my business and the FTC should step in and charge AT&T for false advertising. (that's to say if AT&T hasn't already infiltrated the FTC and the FTC is looking the other way because of how AT&T neutered it.)
