Big Dog Satellite told me the only local channels DIRECTV could offer in my area were out of Salt Lake City, Utah. DIRECTV was offering better deals than the competitor, so BECAUSE I could get major networks I went with them.
After 1 yr of service, I called DIRECTV to make a service call. My physical address in the system was in a little town called Preston, ID. I have never even been to Preston, let alone live there. They changed my address to Idaho Falls and in doing so, they took away my local channels.
When I asked to get them back, I was told there are no locals available in my area. Salt Lake City has never been an option. I was accused of trying to defraud the company by asking them to reinstate the channels.
Big Dog had put a physical address in my acct that would qualify for those channels even though they knew I didn't live there (they came and did my install - they knew I was in Idaho Falls, not Preston). I've since been told that is illegal.
I have absolutely no recourse at this point. I am stuck in a contract that I only agreed to because of something that was promised by Big Dog that didn't exist. DIRECTV won't waive my cancellation fee and accused ME of fraud and the rep I talked to at Big Dog didn't even apologize.
Big Dog was fraudulent NOT ME! I went with them for the acct set up because I wanted to give the local company my business. Never again.
