I, like many others switched to directv to lower monthly bills. I chose a middle of the road package, not a lot of channels but enough - many of which turned out to be 24 hr infomercial channels and very few local channels but we were satisfied. Five months ago I called directv to lower my package to again lower montly bill. At this point I was not told that by lowering my monthly package my rebates (the discounts that brought me to directv) would be cancelled, in fact my quoted new montly payment included the rebates. My first bill was more than my previous bill and we had less viewing channels, when I contacted them again I found out that my rebates were canceled when I decreased my package and that there was nothing they were willing to do to change this for me. I also emailed customer service and was told that they were sorry but nothing could be done because there had to uphold a standard for all customers for a national company and that all the information was given to me initially in a letter.

Needless to say I will cancel directv as soon as I am able, without a large cancellation fee AND I will not be recommending anyone I know to Directv.
