Let me tell you my story. I chose flooring on the understanding that installation would happen 7 - 10 days after measurement. I had already had the same project measured two months before, but nobody could locate those numbers.
Roughly 10 days after I signed the contract, and 5 days after the new measurement, someone phoned to say my chosen flooring would be unavailable for the next 4 to 6 WEEKS. I told her to cancel the order, since I was in a hurry to get the floor done and rent out the townhome. She promised to cancel it.
More than a month afterward, a CitiBank statement arrived with a charge for the flooring. Puzzled, I called Citi first, and they told me to contact the store. The store did not help.
Next I phoned their corporate office in Atl. The department I got was helpful and reached out to the store. The store explained that it had attempted to reverse the charge, yet could not contact me to get MY okay for putting the credit on the Citi / Home Depot Card account I hold. As a result the store offered to request a check and send it to me, which I could use toward my Citi bill.
No check came.
I stayed in touch with corporate, who apparently traded messages with the store for some weeks. Corporate told me the store had put in a request for ANOTHER check and sent it.
No check came.
After that, corporate said they would handle it themselves and faxed over a waiver for me to sign, which would release Home Depot from any liability and allow yet another check to be issued. AT THIS POINT, I feel a LITTLE UNEASY about giving up my rights. Before signing, I want corporate to put their signature on the waiver/reimbursement agreement first, so that I hold a copy.
I am now a little worn out by all of this. I called CitiBank just now and disputed the charge. They will review it and issue a "judgement" in under 60 days.
In short: Home Depot cannot be trusted. That's all I will say.
