After many years of dealing with the old HP, something has changed. I purchased a 'customer care pack', which was indestinguishable from an extended warranty. This was a 2 year product, and I purchased it right before the original warranty on my Pavilion laptop expired. All indications were that I would be covered for 2 more years. I did have a problem, and when I tried to use the warranty, I was told it actually started on the purchase date of the laptop, and therefore the extended warranty (the 'care pack') was expired. The process of determining that HP was not going to honor the warranty occurred via numerous frustrating calls through an offshore call center.
A class action lawsuit to express the level of frustration, elevated bloodpressure, loss of monies and time etc., should be filed against HP.
It is an absolute shame, and a sad day when a paragon of reliability and good customer service such as Hewlett Packard has allowed it's commitment to customer service deteriorate to nothing more that the empty promises we can see on the website. I advocate selling HP stock, and firing the CEO. Customer comittment (or lack of) comes from the top.
