This is what you get for doing a "survey"

Apparently my mother-in-law completed one of those survey's where they promise you a $250 gift certificate if you finish it... Only she was continually asked to answer more questions, there was never an end to it. She spent over 3 hours answering questions and finally gave up.

One of the things they asked for was a phone number; she gave ours as she was staying with us at the time. What she didn't read was the fine print which said that if you give your phone number (a requirement to complete the survey) that they would change your long distance service to USBI.

Now we have AT&T as our carrier with a great plan that includes our long-distance for free. Why in the world would we change from free to pay-for? They automatically changed it and my phone bill suddenly went up by about $40 a month because we were being charged $15.95 for the service from USBI in addition to the actual long distance charges, which were astronomical.

I called every month for 6 months and never spoke to a human. They apparently only answer calls for about one hour a day and never the same hour lol. I'd get to the part of their voice mail where it said there would be silence till a rep answered, then the next thing I hear is my phone company asking "if you'd like to make a call, please hang..." so apparently USBI would just hang up the call.

Finally got ahold of someone today and after repeatedly telling him to slow down and speak clearly (his voice was unintelligible), I finally got across to him that I wanted a refund. Of course, I only get this months' bill credited.

Here's a tip for those who have AT&T, if you continually have this problem and have to keep calling AT&T to get your plan back in place, have them put a caution flag on your account that won't allow the plan to be changed unless it's in writing from you. They can do it, they did it with me. Sure, it will be a hassle if I ever change phone companies, but well worth it to me!
