On 6/12/07, I called AT&T to cancel my DSL and land line services. The cancellation request was certainly not because of the quality of AT&T products. Overall I was quite happy with my services. The reason for the cancellation is that my family and I are moving across the country.
The bottom line is that it took a 43 minute phone call and 3 people to get me disconnected! I understand the idea of trying to retain customers and all, but that is just unacceptable.
Perhaps most importantly, however, I had the pleasure of hearing a wonderful story from the first AT&T representation I spoke with. He told me of a family who decided to get rid of their land line in favor of only using cell phones. Apparently, their child swallowed the cell phone.By the time the parents got to the neighbor's land line to call 911 it was too late. The child had died. Now the parents are getting a divorce. Hmm stay with the land line or my child will eat my cell phone and die.
So, beware of getting AT&T service. It's kinda like the mob; once you get in you can't get out!
