I bought a 32 ILO tv at Walmart for my husband for a Christmas present on 10-15-07, so it has actually only been used 16 weeks since Christmas in an adult only household. This past week, the remote quit doing anything but powering the tv off and on, so I bought new batteries, and it still didn't work. I then discovered that not only did remote not work, that none of the buttons on tv works either. I called the store and told the electronics salesperson the problem and I had had it several months. I was told to bring it back, and they would exchange. When I arrived at customer service, the rep, called the asst mgr to the front, when she saw date on receipt, and he said they would exchange. They didn't have same tv, so I asked asst. Mgr if we could get a more expensive one and pay difference, and was told yes. When we arrived back at customer service with one to exchange it with, the old one rang up $201.00 cheaper, as they had marked the price down at some point after I bought it. They then called the asst mgg, (Dan) who had to call the store magr, and after approx an hour in this store, they changed their story, and and we left with a non working tv, and was told we would have to call a number and send it off for repair. One of the girls in customer service even told the manager that they could override the register and give us a refund. (The manager was not aware I also heard this) I was told that since it had been marked down that Walmart could only re-coup sale price from company it came from. After doing research, it is Walmarts' own brand, so that too seems to be an incorrect statement. If this is Walmarts' own tv, then I believe Walmart should be able to exchange it.
I have found several websites with complaints from others who also bought this tv, and have horror stories. If this tv is this bad, then what are they doing selling them, if they won't honor an exchange? Here is one website with complaints. (ror redacted link for security purposes)
