I purchased a SanDisk memory card for my digital camera at Best Buy in early 2006. The offer on the packaging promised a $15 rebate on the $40 memory card but said nothing more about any limitations on the offer. I purchased the memory card, opened it, and subsequently submitted the rebate to SanDisk. I heard nothing from SanDisk about the rebate. I then went to SanDisk's website, where they have an entire portion dedicated to checking on the status of your rebate (which instantly made me suspicious).
I input my information and was informed that the time limitations on my rebate offer were for only a seven day period at the end of October. (SanDisk claims that it sent me a letter advising me of this, which I also never received.)
In other words, SanDisk INTENTIONALLY limited the time for redemption of the rebate to ONE WEEK, knowing full well that each memory disk with this offer would not be purchased in a week's time from whatever retail store was selling the memory cards (that assumes, of course, the cards actually arrived to the retail center by that time) and purchasers expecting a rebate would be unable to collect.
This is a MAJOR scam.
