I bought a laptop from Dell with the promise of a $150.00 rebate. The lady who took my order spent TWENTY minutes with me explaining that she would send everything I needed to get my rebate and all I had to do was sign, etc and send it off. I did exactly as instructed and mailed the paperwork the day after I got it.
Several months later, I get a letter telling me that I "did not qualify" for a rebate. I began a four month, non-stop effort to get what they legitimately owed me. I refused to pay until I got my money. They called, sometimes FIFTEEN times a DAY! Threatening me with all manner of legal procedures and each time I told them to send the damned rebate or I would not pay another cent on the computer.
My credit has suffered mightily from this fiasco, but, this ain't no time to be a wuss, so! I maintained my position on this, paid nothing on the account, and they FINALLY sent $100.00. But, STILL not what they owed me!!! They still owe me fifty bucks and although I have began paying the bill and bought it up to date, I am still going to have large problems with them in the end because I am NOT going to pay the last fifty dollars and I am not going to pay the late charges that accrued while I waited for them to make the decision to pay me.
If I had not been as obstinate and determined, I would be left holding this bag until hell froze over! This is not the only rebate I have had problems with, and I will tell the world that I WILL NEVER BE SUCKED IN BY REBATES! Ever again!
Rebate is a scam tactic and there oughtta be a law! Oh! There is one? Let's exercise that law and start getting some justice. I am available for legal action: Sam's Club, Washing machine. Radio Shack, Portable DVD player. Magellan, map chip. And a host of others.
