HighBeam Research
Highbeam research do not use them, do not sign up, do not give any financial info to highbeam!

As others have said, this company is terrible.

They WILL NOT let you cancel. They simply won't. Here's my nightmare: I cancelled BEFORE the 7-day trial period ended. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the $29.95 charged to me on my statement.

As soon as I did, I went to cancel AGAIN. I followed all the steps to ensure it was finally done and over with. But I still got charged.in their cancellation service, they include a phone number to call in case we cannot cancel online.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING ONLINE CANCELLATION IF CANCELLATION IS "UNSUCCESSFUL"? Why even have it at all, why not just tell EVERYONE they have to call to cancel?

Oh, I know why, because highbeam.com is a scam. They are no better than Phishing scams - Highbeam knows it can't make money from actual user subscriptions the way that Lexis-Nexis does with consumers voluntarily paying for the service, so Highbeam has to resort to the same subscription scams that you see in Win a Free iPod popups.

To top it off, I cancelled my Visa xxxx-3807 to put an end to it. When I received my new card and activated it on the 13th, HIGHBEAM SOMEHOW MANAGED TO BILL ME AGAIN. I called the bank up, furious that they had given my new credit card to this scam company, but the bank made it clear that is against their policy. The only thing I bought with my new card the day I activated it was groceries at Safeway, a textbook from Amazon, and a few minor Paypal transactions - none of which involved Highbeam. But somehow, they got my new credit card number, god knows how. They probably installed spyware that recorded my keystrokes, watching for a new credit card number, I don't know how. That last transaction will absolutely be reversed by the bank as it was never authorized in the first place.

NEVER, NEVER use Highbeam, don't ever give them any sort of financial info, and if you really want to read an article that badly, go to reputable research websites like Encylopedia Britannica or Lexis-Nexis - those two websites are worth the money because they don't have to resort to scamming consumers. There's a real difference between paying for research subscriptions and having some con-artist company with questionable billing techniques fool you out of your money and then resort to any illegal phishing they can to get more money.
